Between the mountain chain and the long and white seacoast, stands the hills, where can be seen the most majestic glimpses. The main city is Teramo, which is rich of culture and history. Everywhere the tourist can see the artifacts of the ancient times, such as the remain of the Roman Empire, or the Duomo Cathedral, well known as the jewel of the population.
To the north there is Bellante, a countryside city that stands between the sea and the mountain. The city is well known for his Middle Ages buildings and the ancient walls.
To the south there are Cermignano, Penna Sant’Andrea and Basciano, they have a common trait, they are surrounded by the nature. People here think that their religious and culinary traditions are part of them-self. Penne Sant'Andrea is a little bit different from the other ones because of the buildings that represent the modern and ancient times at the same time.
To the east there is Canzano, where you can find ladylike buildings, sixteenth-century houses, prestigious churches, and also the ancient town-walls.
The countryside around Teramo city is rich of olive trees and vineyards, thanks to the favourable environment, indeed it is also famous for the production of extra virgin olive oil, and very high- quality wine, such as the Colli Aprutini Igt Montepulciano d’Abruzzo Docg.
The peculiarity of the land is the magnificent landscape of Gran Sasso mountain, that can be seen from almost every city, such as Castellalto - a little town located between Tordino and Vomano rivers, that was born as a castle, and became a proper city only in the nineteenth century - and Civitella del Tronto - that was the last stronghold of the Bourbon Kingdom -.
But Teramo is not only history and tradition, indeed it is also innovation and industrialization, for example Notaresco - that is full of industrial and commercial companies- and Mosciano Sant’Angelo - which is easily connected with both Adriatica and Tirrena main routes, and it is also the more dynamic and productive town of the province and the whole region.
