Departing from Isola Del Gran Sasso cross the country going toward Casale San Nicola. There, turn to the left and travel the asphalted road for around 1 km to meet, on the left, a bridge in cement that goes to the country. To this point you cross a stone cart track that passes close to San Valentino ruins and, after a steep slope, it conducts to the inhabited area of Cerchiara.
Near the church of Cerchiara there is a cart track that allows to reach a zone of pastures and clearings in which you can admire Gran Sasso and Valle Siciliana. From here another cart track bring you to Fonte Chivatteri from which, you can reach the long cart track that coasts the channel.
Across bridges in iron and in wood there is a steep , that climbs in slope from Casale to San Nicola, and reaches Fonte Nera. Here you can refresh yourself and make restocking of water before continuing on an ample path. After a brief steep line you reach a road than conducts to San Pietro. You overcome the road leaving it on the right and continuing in the beech trees.
In the following line that brings to Piane del Fiume you need to pay attention to the yellow and red stamps of Quattro Vadi path that conducts to a beautiful source that allows to refresh.
From here it continues on the path to reach Tuzzo stream and subsequently he climbs on a steep path that brings to the aqueduct. Crossing this last in descent toward left you reach a cart track on the right marked with the signs of Sentieri d’Italia. Stay on the cart track up to the first returning which arrives near Pagliata lake. There you can enjoy a magnificent view of Monte Camicia and the Adriatic beach. Going up on Pietro Boscherini path you reach the ruins of the castle of Santa Maria di Pagliara. From here, a path allows to go down toward Isola Del Gran Sasso and to go back to square one.
N.B: in summer period we recommend you to start soon in the morning to avoid the heat of the sun.
