We continue the trip along Val Vomano. Once you reach Val Vomano and take the SS81 toward Penna Sant'Andrea. Here there is the regional natural Reserve "Castel Cerreto" that deserve a visit, it was founded in 1991, occupy well 143 hectares of territory to an altitude that varies between the 300 and the 600 meters! The suburb is also known for the tradition of “danza del laccio d’amore”: propitious dance for marriages. Every year in the month of August in Penne there is the meeting of International Folklore, with groups from every part of the world and feast of the local bread.
In 15-20 minutes around you can reach Basciano. You immediately will notice the bell tower of San Giorgio or the clock Tower that rise above Porta Penta that constitutes the access to the medieval suburb with the lanes and the Church of San Flaviano. In front of Porta Penta there is Vittorio Emanuele Plaza. Basciano is the center of a well known summer gastronomic appointment in August:Festival del prosciutto nostrano.
Now go down on the SS150 and continue toward Montorio al Vomano, a country located at the begin of the National Park of Gran Sasso e Monti della Laga. Here is organized”Vetrina del Parco” a festival that promote the territory and the local products. Besides the architectural beauties as the Collegiate San Rocco that guards the most ancient organ of Abruzzo. The local traditions are also interesting: the “Carnevale Morto” it is a satirical and burlesque funeral procession in honor of Carnival; the “Stù” is an ancient game with original papers, the local pastry such as the bocconotto.
From Montorio al Vomano you cross the SS80 up to the intersection with SP43a: you are on the road toward Fano Adriano and Pietracamela. The two communes entertain two small places climb on of it of particular beauty: respectively Prato Selva and Prati di Tivo. Runs, skiing stations, chair lifts, shelters and green spaces. what of better the mountain can offer in the summer and in winter to walk, make sport and to be spellbound by amazing panoramas!
Go back on SS80, keep on climbing and reach Senarica (in Crognaleto): according to stories around halves the XIV it was constituted in the autonomous Republic and was recognized from Venice as "serenissima sorella!" To remember Festa della Castagna organized in honor of "lu 'Nzite", the appreciated brown place.
