The excursion concerns Campli mountain, famous for its characteristic form to horseshoe composed by two different blocks, Monticchio and Foltrone Mountain, separated by Fosso Bianco.
Starting from Colle Ginepro, you go toward Fortezza di Civitella following one "carrareccia" that goes over the cultivated fields of Pan Cerreto, from here you enter in a wood of conifers.
Continuing on the path, you enter in a beech trees wood where you can see hollies and flowerings of the brushwood. Once arrived in Battaglia suburb continue along "sentiero dello scoiattolo" where in spring bloom narcissuses, gentianella, orchids, "non ti scordar di me" and where it is also possible to admire a splendid secular tree known as "l’abete d’argento".
First overcome Sant’Eremo caves, and then, between woods of beech trees and conifers, you arrive in Rifugio delle Aquile near Acquachiara. From here you can decided whether to take the path that passes through Campovalano necropolis or to continue toward Fanum mountain crossing local suburbs in which you can admire ancient religious buildings as the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the Church of Santa Barbara.
Crossing paths covers in trees, finally, you arrive to the Horse Center of Fanum mountain.
