If you are in Giulianova, one of the principal seaside resorts of Teramo, you will find uncontaminated treasures. Giulianova is a Roman colony founded in a strategic position to control the routs along the Adriatic. From the south there are the old port and the suggestive "caliscendi", structures conceived for fishing and of junction between the dry land and the sea. To around a pair of Km from the railway station, continuing on the National Adriatic in toward Santa Maria a Mare, a Benedictine religious building (X sec.) with an enchanting portal. Climbing in the high part of the city, in Buozzi Plaza, the symbol of the Renaissance city wanted by Giulio Antonio Acquaviva: the Cathedral of San Flaviano (1472). Here are guarded important works of art among which the Treasure of Collegiata. From here, crossing Dello Splendore avenue, you arrive to the Sanctuary of Madonna dello Splendore. Giulianova is also famous for the typical “brodetto di pesce”: don't lose the occasion to taste it!
Going toward Teramo through SS80 there is the country of Mosciano Sant'Angelo (274 ms s.l.m): Montone, a suburb that, in the month of August, is animated by the festival of "Montone tra sole e luna." Among so many cultural wealths we signal the sarcophagus of Bucciarello placed in the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate. Continuing on SP262, pay a visit in the Convent of Santa Maria degli Angeli and from here go to the suburb of Mosciano Sant'Angelo, known also as the country of towers of fourteenth-century.
Taking back the SS80, in Bellante (354 ms s.l.m.) you can see the medieval suburb of Ripattoni with Saliceti tower, the ancient parish of Saint Maria in Herulis, where in the month of July there is the cultural demonstration of Ripattoni in Arte.
From here through the speedway Teramo-Mare you reach the chief town, Teramo (432 ms s.l.m.). In Piazza Martiri della Libertà you will find the Cathedral of San Berardo, built in 1158, the Roman Theater and amphitheater, whose rests are preserved in the Archaeological Museum. In the neighbor of Sant'Anna Plaza are visible Torre Bruciata, the ancient cathedral and the archaeological excavations. Continuing for the main avenue, toward Porta Madonna you will find the Sanctuary of Madonna delle Grazie, so much darling to the population. In the summer the city becomes animated with Coppa Interamnia (handball world competition). A suggestion? Stop in the local restaurant to taste the typical dishes of the sophisticated kitchen: timballo, chitarra with pallottine, scrippelle ‘mbusse, mazzarelle.
