It is a long itinerary, that start from Prati di Tivo(1450 ms.) and crosses one of the most beautiful valleys of Gran Sasso, to reach the Rifugio Garibaldi (2230 ms)
The path departs from Prati di Tivo Hotel , taking the dirt road that goes out of the wood it arrives on the crest that separates the valley of Rio Arno from Prati di Tivo. From here it goes down to reach the falls of Rio Arno.
You continue in slope where the road turns into a path (path CAI 2) where we find to the right Grotta dell’Orso and Vallone dei Ginepri to the left. Continuing, Valle Maone expands toward east Campo Pericoli(anciently called Campo Aprico).
Continuing, you reach Capanne (1957 ms) where there are the rests of ancient refuges for shepherds. From there it folds up to the left here, turning to the right is reached Passo di Portella that leads to Campo Imperatore through Passo del Lupo(2156 ms), turning to the left, instead, and crossing the path among the lawns, you reach the Rifugio Garibaldi (2231 ms)
