Taking the highway Teramo-Mare or the SS150 you arrive in Castel Castagna (452 ms s.l.m.). Here it waits you the millennial Abbey of Saint Maria di Ronzano that overlooks Valle Siciliana. The panorama is amazing! The abbey preserve: thirteenth-century frescos and an ancient crate that guards the relic of Croce. A legend tells both recovers from a farmer that was working near the church.
To few minutes by car, near the A24, there is Colledara (430 ms s.l.m) that in the month of August entertains the feast devoted to the gastronomic excellence: the porchetta. It is a tradition that here it is handed down from over 150 years by the local master. In the fraction of Ornano Grande, to 3 km from the center of the country, you can visit San Giorgio church well known for the particular façade and the bell tower. From here you can enjoy a splendid view of Gran Sasso.
To 5 km from Colledara you can find Tossicia (409 ms s.l.m) composed by many other countries; one of these are Azzinano, the country of "painting".
