Starting from Montorio al Vomano (264 ms) toward Isola del Gran Sasso crossing S.S. 491. This area is pleasantly for cycling and the panorama improves it along the way. Reached Camerale, the road begins to go down and it enters in Valle Siciliana. We suggest you to visit the suburb of Tossicia, center of an important museum about "cultura materiale" of Gran Sasso population. You should also go visit Sant'Antonio Abate church, Santa Maria Assunta and the Horse Center "Sella del Gigante" (open in 2008) with the fourth greater covered arena in Italy.
From Tossicia go toward Isola del Gran Sasso and Colliberti, San Massimo and Villa Rossa. The road, where there are few cars and the surrounding landscape almost resemble the alpine valleys.
From Villa Rossa take the Provincial route that conducts to Castelli (497 ms), famous country all over the world for the artistic ceramics.
From Castelli go toward San Salvatore. Not far from there, there is a secondary road that brings to San Donato Church, famous for the ceiling made of 700 bricks produced between 1615 and 1617 and called by Carlo Levi " la Sistina della Maiolica”.
To this point leave the principal road and go down toward Villa Colli and Colledoro. There you can go down to Castel Castagna or toward Ronzano. Going toward Ronzano you can admire the suggestive Romanesque church of Saint Maria di Ronzano, built around the 1180 by a Benedictine monastery and it is destroyed in a fire in the 1183.
From here you can reach the National 491, cross it toward valley, up to the intersection with the National 150 of Vomano, after that continue toward mountain to reenter in Montorio al Vomano.
