It is medieval village, born in the eleventh century on the hill about 300 meters s.l.m. Initially called Castel Pagano was surrounded by high walls to defend the community from raids by the Saracens that centuries threatened the Adriatic coasts . Montepagano is a beautiful medieval village to visit, given the historical value that preserves in some of its corners, starting from the square and the bell tower of the Church of Sant'Antimo that overlooks it. But also to enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding hills and the Adriatic Sea and appreciate the typical cuisine of Abruzzo and Teramo, both mountain and more typically marinara, in the various restaurants and trattorias that dot the village.
