More than a real church, it is a small and graceful votive chapel erected in 1872 at the beginning of the bridge over the Vomano river in place of a small temple known as the "Cona del ponte" built in the 16th century.
Of the same period is the painting of the Madonna with Child kept inside. It is made of brick with openings on three sides consisting of round arches supported by round columns with capitals.
The roof is gabled and the interior has a vaulted ceiling. In the part reserved for the apse there is a small altar, while on the external wall there is a reference to an historical fact that occurred on June 13, 1944, when the bridge was blown up during the war and the small chapel remained intact.
The inhabitants of Montorio celebrate the Madonna del Ponte on September 8th, the day of the Nativity of Mary.
