It is a very beautiful church, both externally and internally, which was an integral part of the ancient fortification of the medieval village of Isola. The stone portal, created by the Neapolitan sculptor Matteo Capro, is of a certain value and bears the date 1420.
The interior is remarkable. It has three naves separated by round arches resting on pillars embellished with fake capitals. The central nave ends with the high altar located in the apse, near which is a beautiful wooden pulpit.
The left aisle is dedicated to San Jacopo and there is a Renaissance baptistery wanted by Ferdinando de Alarçon y Mendoza, the first Marquis of the Sicilian Valley whose island belonged. The bell tower has a square plan and ends with a particular and unusual round and curved spire of oriental inspiration.
