Built in the twelfth century, it is known from historical sources at least since 1153 and was elevated to collegiate in 1487. It also played a military role, when in 1557, during the siege of the French and papal army, it was converted into a bastion to defend the village.

A few years later it was rebuilt near the Porta Napoli, gateway to Civitella. At the end of the eighteenth century, more precisely between 1777 and 1790, it changed waiting, assuming definitely the features of a baroque church, remaining in Renaissance style the only entrance portal.

The beautiful bell tower, which has a quadrangular base, is inserted between the arm of the transept and the apse. Internally it has a single aisle to which two lateral chapels have been added. Finally, at the intersection of the nave and transept is an octagonal dome.
