Almost certainly it was built in the fourteenth century along with the adjacent Franciscan Convent. The current structure is due to a profound restructuring of the eighteenth century that has also led to its discrete expansion.
The façade is in Romanesque style with a flat crown and has a valuable stone portal surmounted by a lunette in which there are still evident traces of a fresco concerning the Madonna with Child and Saints Francis, Ludovico and Chiara. Higher up there is a beautiful rose-window of the '300 with folded leaves, while at the back there is a quadrangular bell tower. The interior has a single nave and is in Baroque style and retains a remarkable 15th-century wooden choir. Along the side walls there are six shrines that house as many statues.
The apse, which has a particular square plan with a cross vault, is located in the presbytery area, where a sumptuous altar in travertine and stucco is placed.
